About Juliana
Juliana was born and raised in Fortaleza-Ceara Brazil. Since the early age of 19, Juliana has been windsurfing and became a professional athlete. She competed in multiple world- class competitions in the Professional Windsurfing Association (PWA) tour, where she was ranked #18 female freestyle windsurfer, #18 in waves, #3 in slalom in South America, #2 in waves, and #1 in freestyle in Brazil and #1 in Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) Open Women Israel.
At the same age that Juliana started her passion for water-sports, she also began her path in dentistry and has been practicing dentistry for over 10 years. As a dentist, she is still a pro-windsurfer, and a co-founder of the Butterfly Effect, which she started together with Tatiana Howard, when she was living in Maui, Hawaii.
They started the Butterfly Effect because they wanted to spread the smiles and aloha spirit for uniting women from different watersports, and for those who wanted the support to reach their physical challenges of SUPing beach to beach. While living in Surfer’s Paradise and contributing to her community, Juliana met her life partner, pro-windsurfer, Eyal Shelef. There, they got married and eventually moved to Israel to start their family, where they are now raising two beautiful groms who speak both Hebrew and Portuguese in the house.
Being exposed to so many cultures and wisdom in her travels, Juliana saw the benefits of incorporating holistic knowledge into her medical treatments. She realized that western medicine was ignoring individual situations that may call for customized treatment. This lead her to expand her knowledge by studying Yoga Integrative from Tibet in Israel.
Since then, she has been treating hundreds of athletes, people struggling with their weight, women at all stages of their life, and people who are sedentary. Juliana enjoys watching the improvements that her patients are making and will be happy to speak with you about how she can help anyone who is interested in learning more.
